Recommended Books for IMM

This post contains the names of recommended books and topics for CPSP IMM Examination in Pakistan . The recommendations have been collected from CPSP website and from examiners.


1. "Ten Teachers" book for #Gynae & Obs (#Obs & Gynae) are good to read once for basic conceptual building and also good for labor understanding
2. EBM (Evidence Based Management  David M. Luesley and Mark D. Kilby 3rd edition) average student can make this book a basic book 
3. Dewhurst`s Textbook of Obs & Gyae by Keith Edmond 9th edition ,  If you have chose EBM as your basic study book then also read  Dewhurst`s summary points and  its tables.
4. High Risk pregnancy 5th edition by David James , Philip J. S. et.al. recommended for hardworking & shining students . Prefer to read  tables & key points .
5. RCOG , NICE & Greentop Guidelines for hardworking & shining students who can read them in deatils , atleast read  executive summary points if you are an ordinary students


Tips for books reading & making personal notes

A.   Frist of all you should go through  the MCQS of a specific topic to get an idea of question that can be asked from the topic then read that topic from book keeping those MCQs in mind. It may take a bit longer time in start but it will benefit you in the long run. Question yourself about the topic before reading. It will increase your problem solving skills and enhance your memory.
B.   While reading specific topics Keep two note books
a.     Incidents notebook
b.     Important points of that topic
Near exams days it will be helpful for you for revision by saving time.

MCQs Books
Books  sequenced as per priority
1.  Recalls of CPSP past papers that are already available online/  facebook/ whatsapp groups . you may join my whatsapp group for recalls discussions.( For details contact me on whatsapp - 03331648004).
2.    Lange Q & A Obs & Gynae 9 th edition :1300 USMLE style Qs.  In this book most answers are as per USMLE (ACOG Guidelines)  but you have to follow RCOG Guide lines as per SOP of CPSP. You have to modify few answers.
3.    Pretest Obs & Gynae 500 USMLE Qs . some issues ACOG vs RCOG as ref above.
4.    Williams Obs study guide ; MCQs based lengthy book but provides clear concepts about labour & adolescent gynecological issues. Recommended for hardworking & shining students only.
5.    Seema & Sharma MRCOG book : Short & concise SBAs completely as per MRCOG guidelines.
6.    Amanda Jones : It will guide you  how to deal with many types of MCQs. As you have to be prepared to deal with the statement of question not just select one option from the given.
